It is my pleasure to strongly recommend Katie Santos as English and Portuguese teacher. She was recommended to me by a friend for private 1 to 1 tuition of English at first, and later in group. She provided all materials, and was flexible with class timings. On occasion, I asked her to proofread documents in English for me, and she was very helpful.

I am ten years old, half Brazilian and half British. I wanted to learn Portuguese, so I can speak with my family back in Brazil. I joined Katie's "Wednesday Portuguese kiddie's club" in 2019, and I love it.
We follow a book, and Katie provides other materials.
Now we have online lessons, and they are still a lot of fun!

 

I am Gabby's mum, Ana Cristina. My husband and I are very pleased with our daughter's Portuguese lessons with Katie. For the first time, I can see Gabby happy to learn Portuguese. I had lost my hope about it! All of the learning material is good and lots of practising exercises that made a huge improvement. Gabby starts to says sentences without me asking. Katie is amazing with Gabby.

I am 10 years old and have been learning Portuguese with Katie. She is really nice and I enjoy my lessons because they are fun.  I started having lessons with her at her Wednesday club. Since Covid 19 I have been having online classes.
We do the same fun things online like games, songs and activities with the other people in our group. We use a textbook and handouts and talk lots - Portuguese! :-)
I have made a great friend through my lessons and use my Portuguese when I go to Portugal.

Lessons with Katie are great fun! I started learning Portuguese as a beginner and used to have private in-class lessons but we now have lessons online and it still works really well. I’m aiming to use Portuguese in my work and Katie is able to include both variants of European and Brazilian Portuguese within the lessons so that I can be aware of different vocabulary and pronunciations. There’s always an element of culture too, so that we cover not only the language itself but also look at different aspects of life and heritage in Portugal and Brazil. Lessons are often themed, relevant to the time of year, or events taking place and Katie works hard to make them engaging and varied with a good amount of grammar. It’s great because we can go at a pace that suits me and I get some input into topics I’d like to cover and learn about – would definitely recommend to anyone who wishes to learn or improve their level of Portuguese.

I have been taking Portuguese lessons with Katie for a year now. She is an excellent teacher and loves what she does. She is very good at explaining grammar and provides good learning material. The lessons are always fun and each week there is something to look forward.
I feel that I am not only improving my language skills, but also find out more about Portuguese culture and cuisine. For instance, the “Pasteis de Nata” recipe I was asked to translate has actually inspired me to have a go. They turned out to be delicious.
Anyone who is looking for taking Portuguese language lessons, then look no further because Katie is the best teacher you can find! 

I attended a 5-hour online tailor-made English package of lessons with Katie. Katie is an excellent and professional teacher, able to quickly understand your weaknesses and tailor a perfect programme to work on them. In addition, she always maintains a friendly approach to make you feel at ease. I really enjoyed her teaching style. Hope to have further lessons soon. Highly recommend!
